In those times, having someone alongside you can make a real difference, because every journey is a little easier when made alongside a caring and supportive fellow traveller. I want to offer you a warm, calm and supportive space where you can talk about what is going on for you, at your own pace. Over nearly 20 years, my work has extended across the NHS, higher education, and the voluntary sector, supporting individuals, clinical teams, and frontline professionals. My clinical roles have included work within forensic mental health services, learning disability care, adult mental health, and palliative and end-of-life support.
A key part of my therapeutic work has been supporting neurodivergent clients, particularly individuals on the autistic spectrum, and those living with ADHD. Approach & Specialist Areas:
People often seek therapy when patterns in mood, relationships, or ways of coping begin to feel unhelpful or limiting, or when life events bring up difficulties that are hard to manage alone.

I offer a thoughtful, non-judgemental therapeutic space where we can work collaboratively to understand what is happening for you and how change might be possible. I pay close attention to the therapeutic relationship and to creating a setting that feels steady, respectful, and containing.

I work integratively, drawing on psychodynamic therapy, CBT, and existential-phenomenological approaches, adapting the work to your individual needs. This may involve exploring how past experiences shape present patterns, while also focusing on practical ways of coping and making changes in the here-and-now.

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, low mood, trauma, work-related stress, relationship difficulties, perfectionism, body image concerns, and issues around identity, gender, and sexuality. I offer both time-limited and longer-term therapy, depending on what feels most appropriate.

Background:
I trained as a Counselling Psychologist with a background in psychology and philosophy. My doctoral training emphasised understanding individuals in context rather than focusing solely on diagnosis, and this informs how I work therapeutically. I have experience working in NHS, private, and charity settings.

Approach & Specialist Areas:
Life can be challenging, and it can be painful and confusing. Counselling can help. I provide a safe and non-judgemental space to help make sense of what is going on for you, like relationship difficulties (personal or professional), bereavement or other losses, anxiety or depression, sense of identity, neurodiversity, self-critic, or big life changes like parenthood, changing job or home, marriage, retirement, divorce, sexuality or menopause.

No two people’s journeys through life look or feel the same, so over time I get to know you on a deep level, helping you to understand your feelings, relationships and behaviours, with the aim of you being able to live with more clarity and less pain, ultimately working towards making choices that feel more in line with who you are. I do this through asking you about your current life. I’m also interested in your history, beliefs and culture and how these might link to how things are for you. With your permission I’ll invite you to be interested in what your body might be saying and share with you what I notice in our sessions, as it can be helpful to hear how people experience you. I draw on a variety of therapeutic approaches, and blend these with being warm, empathic and human along with bringing in gentle challenge, where welcome.

Background:
In the early 2000s, as receptionist in a brilliant psychotherapy charity, I was moved, intrigued and inspired by the changes in clients’ faces, bodies and energy as they emerged from therapy sessions. Not yet ready to move into therapeutic work myself, I continued working in charitable/educational admin. Alongside mindfulness, yoga and somatic movement, I also experienced the healing nature of having therapy after a sudden family bereavement and to support my relationship with myself and with others. Feeling drawn to directly use my interpersonal skills to support others, I spent two years training, in-person, in two compassion-based Life Coaching approaches which draw heavily on relational, somatic and developmental therapeutic theories. Finally, some years ago, I understood that I was ready: training as a Counsellor has brought together my natural gifts and life experience with theoretical understanding and skills so that I can support you and others in navigating important life questions and challenges, towards more freedom and wholeness.

Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
Certificate in Counselling Studies,
Professional Coaching Course - Integral Development Coach

Generative Coaching (IAGC).

Approach & Specialist Areas:
Therapy can make a real difference - no matter who you are or what you’re going through. I’m especially passionate about supporting adults navigating big life transitions, whether that’s stepping into adulthood, parenthood, coping with a breakup, changing careers, moving through grief, or exploring peri/menopause and neurodiversity. Seasons of change can feel overwhelming, and it’s easy to get stuck in cycles of shame, self-doubt, or unhealthy patterns.
As an integrative, trauma-informed counsellor, I draw on different techniques to create an approach tailored to you. I support clients with anxiety, depression, grief, stress, relationship difficulties, perfectionism, past trauma, and more. My work weaves together cognitive, emotional, somatic, and relational approaches, helping you explore not just your thoughts and feelings but also how your body and nervous system respond.
At the heart of therapy is the relationship we build. Together we’ll create a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel seen, understood, and free to explore what’s holding you back. If appropriate, I’ll support you with tools for self-regulation, like mindfulness, breathing practices and body work, to help calm and ground your nervous system.
Ultimately, my aim is to help you develop resilience, self-awareness, and inner strength, so you can move toward a life that feels freer, more connected, and more joyful.

Background:
I first came to the UK from Australia over 25 years ago, planning just a short adventure, but I quickly fell in love with Oxford and it’s been home ever since. Much of my career has been spent working alongside the NHS—educating and supporting young people in a secure psychiatric unit, and later working with children, families, and young adults facing mental health challenges, emotional difficulties, and physical disabilities both in the community and at the JR Hospital. These experiences inspired me to retrain as a therapist so I could support people in a more direct and meaningful way.

Diploma in Applied Counselling Studies

Approach & Specialist Areas:
I aim to build a therapeutic alliance with my clients in an integrative way that borrows from many approaches to therapy, including humanistic, client-centered and psychodynamic approaches. I offer a supportive and sometimes challenging space to explore your inner self and examine the things that have been holding you back from becoming the version of you that you deserve to be.
I offer you an opportunity to explore, discuss and uncover the things that have been causing you pain. I work with you to build an alliance in which you can feel safe and supported to address your deepest fears and problems without fear of judgement or reprisal. My approach means I do not have a pre-conceived idea of what will work best for you, instead I work with you to discover which style is most appropriate for you. You, the client, are in control of your journey and I am the facilitator. I have been in practice for 3 years and have previously worked with a charity for survivors of domestic abuse and with people from the LGBTQ+ community.

Background:
I have always been interested in language and the way it is used to express meaning, particularly when words and meaning differ. I have taken this interest to an academic level through my undergraduate degree and then used it to guide me through my professional diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. My life experiences have given me an understanding of adversity and I use this background to inform my therapeutic practice.

Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling

Approach & Specialist Areas:
As a transpersonal therapist my focus is to help you to understand yourself better and to explore your growth as as individual. Life can be challenging and complicated, resulting in perhaps depression, anxiety, low self-worth, addictions, eating disorders or a sense of feeling empty or stuck. In therapy we would think together about how your life is now, in the present, then work backwards to explore how people and and situations might have contributed to forming beliefs and responses that are no longer helping you. With growing awareness it is then possible to look forwards into the future, perhaps looking at ways to do things a little differently as you continue your life journey.
We will have an initial session; following this, if you decide to continue with weekly therapy, I will provide a safe and confidential room or Zoom setting for you to bring whatever issues you would like to explore. We might do this just through talking, or we can use visualisations / art / myth and stories / dreamwork - how we work is your choice. I will actively engage with the issues you bring, by listening, supporting and challenging you to find out more about the unique human being that you are. As Oscar Wilde said, “The final mystery is oneself”.

Background:
In 2010, following a personal crisis, I went into therapy with a Jungian practitioner which over time, transformed the way in which I understood myself, my life and the world. Excited by this, I then took the decision to retrain as a therapist, so that I could help others as I had been helped.
Prior to this, I worked as a garden designer / gardener. I have always had strong ties to the natural world, which has taught me so much.

Training & Qualifications:
Diploma in Integrative Transpersonal Counselling (ReVision, London).

Registered Bodies & Organisational Positions:

Approach & Specialist Areas:
We are all born with a need to be seen, heard, loved and accepted.

When these basic needs are not met, we find ourselves, often unknowingly, either adapting our behaviours to fill this void to feel some version of love and acceptance or are left feeling empty, alone or confused. The pressures of life, its demands, and relationships can suddenly become something we don’t feel in control of, and its knock-on effect can include isolation, depression, addictions, loss of confidence, shame or loss of identity.

I work with clients who have decided that these issues, short or long-standing, can’t be reached by a comfortable resolution of their own. I offer a working and supported partnership that gives my clients the time that they need to explore and address their emotions, fears, and concerns.

As a qualified therapist, I use an integrative approach that combines elements from different psychological theories and practices to tailor treatment to the individual needs of clients - based on the specific challenges and goals of each client.

I have worked supporting clients who have experienced amongst others, abuse, trauma, addiction, self-harm, anxiety, low self-esteem, bereavement, work and relationship difficulties.

Background:
Having worked within Human Resources for many years, I have always been interested in people, and in understanding how we live, work, adapt and respond to life’s trials. I volunteered for a mental health charity for over 5 years.

Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling
BA(hons) Business Studies

Approach & Specialist Areas:
I offer a flexible approach according to your needs and integrate different methods to understand your issue and help you to become more aware of unhelpful patterns which are causing you distress. Our work together will involve exploring the nature of your issues in creative ways, and how you can make sense and meaning of where you find yourself today and in the wider context of your life.

The humanistic framework I work within is based on the belief that most people have the ability to solve their problems, to grow and achieve well-being no matter how stuck or helpless they may be feeling.
As we build a deeply empathic and trusting relationship, I invite you gently and with compassion to be open to exploring the disturbance within you and uncover any fixed relational patterns and beliefs about yourself and the world, including any fears and anxieties that are blocking you. This may feel challenging at times and I will be mindful and respectful of your needs on our journey together. I will also pay attention to how the relationship we build together is going, and what seems to be working for you, or not, with regular reviews and check-ins.

I have worked with clients from diverse backgrounds and cultures and embrace the richness of each individual’s uniqueness and life story.

Background:
I became interested in becoming a psychotherapist after working for several years teaching and supporting adults and adolescents who had struggled in mainstream education. I don’t believe that one size fits all and am interested in understanding and challenging what is considered ‘normal’ or ‘successful' in our western culture and how we relate to and communicate with each other in an increasingly complex and changing world. Prior to this I worked for many years in advertising and marketing.s.

Clinical Diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapy- Metanoia

Approach & Specialist Areas:
I believe that a therapeutic relationship built over time is key to the success of any therapy. My job is in part to listen intently to you and I might offer my reflections or an alternative perspective. You can tell me if my reflections sound right or not, and together we will work towards increasing your understanding of yourself and your way forward.
I use an integrative approach and draw upon a number of modalities. This includes a strong focus on Psychodynamic principles which involve noticing present patterns of behaviour and ways of relating to others and connecting these with past experiences and early attachments which give valuable insight on unconscious influences and beliefs we may not have been aware of and can keep us stuck. I also use elements of Cognitive Behavioual Therapy as I recognise that, alongside the deeper work, clients often want some ‘here and now’ help; techniques and practical ideas that you can try.
I have a particular interest in trauma and the various ways it can manifest in the mind and body. The distress of traumatic events can embed in our nervous systems, often resulting in overwhelming feelings of panic, anxiety, dissociation and depression. As a first step I can help you to find ways to self-regulate, such as mindfulness techniques and breathing exercises, to use both within the sessions and in everyday life.

Many people feel an initial reluctance to ‘open the can of worms’ but done in a supported and paced way, this work can be a powerful and enlightening thing to do, leading to real and lasting change.

Background:
I have always had an interest in psychology and, as a lover of books, I have always valued people’s stories and noticed the power of relating our narrative to another person. So, after a 20-year career as an editor in academic publishing, I decided to pursue my long-held ambition to become a psychotherapist. I began my training in 2011 and have never looked back.

Training and qualifications:
Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Practice (psychodynamic, humanistic and CBT) (Prof. Dip. Psy. C.)
Postgraduate Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling (1 yr), Oxford University, Department of Continuing Education
I have also worked as a responder for the national crisis service Shout 85258

Registered Bodies & Organisational Positions:
Accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS)
Individual member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP)
Member of OTS
